We are so lucky to call Luang Prabang home for Passa Paa. There are many spots that enchant us with their colours, magic and flavours. That is why we loved doing the DISCOVER Luang Prabang series on our @passapaa Instagram account. We decided to put them all in a blog too so you can find them all in one place. We will continue to add to this series so send us your favourite places and maybe they will become part of our list.

Manda de Laos

Our Passa Paa hemp and appliqué bag stands out against the lush tropical gardens and lily ponds at Manda De Laos ! Without question it’s one of our favourite restaurants in Luang Prabang not only because of their delicious food but the magical ambiance is out of this world! ✨ This is the beginning of the journey folks…we will be leading you through some our favourite gems in Luang Prabang! We hope you join us and perhaps see you there someday in the not so distant future✨ Check out the featured bags in our shop: passa-paa.com/new-index

Formula B café

We continue our journey to a place with delicious coffee drinks and divine baked offerings. We've fallen in love with Formula B on the main street, with its mellow, modern decor it's become our place of choice to return some morning emails or have a quick time out coffee in the afternoon. It seemed fit that we chose this place to photoshoot our hand-made Passa Paa computer case since we actually bring ours here so much! Have a look at the computer cases we have available at our shop: www.passa-paa.com/shop and if you can, come and hang out in Formula B's hip Lao vibe, you can thank us later!

Blue Door

There are some magical corners in this town and one of our favourites is actually the doors of a Lao family's house. It's bright blue colour was the perfect spot to photoshoot our Passa Paa hemp and hand-printed pencil cases. The lush plants that hang around this door is nothing compared to the amazing view of the Mekong river that you can see right in front of it. So check out the pencil cases we have available on our website (www.passa-paa.com/shop) and if you have other favourite doors or magical corners, leave us a comment, we would love to see them too!

Gaspard Restaurant

For many years, we’ve passed by this traditional Lao house. Never did we imagine it would turn into this beauty that now is Gaspard . Recently renovated and brought back to life, the details both inside and outside the restaurant are mesmerising. So when we saw this window, we knew it would be the perfect spot to highlight our hand-made hemp and appliqué cushions. Find the cushions available on our website here and next time you're in Luang Prabang come to Gaspard and enjoy our favourites: their divine French pastries 🍰

Avani Hotel

If you've been to Luang Prabang, you know that the main street becomes a night market after 5pm. At the very begining of this street there is now a corner full of trees, elegant lights and life that is now Avani+ Luang Prabang Hotel . The lobby of the hotel is home to 3 Passa Paa large art work installations featuring our Mountain print. Wall hangings like this are custom made and you can order them to fit your space and colours. Just send us a message, we'd love to chat about ideas for your own walls. Check out the Avani rooms for more examples of our wall hangings.

Bouang

Packed full of energy, colourful, quirky decor and the buzz of a lively kitchen, this is Bouang (meaning spoon 🥄 in Lao) our weekly go to restaurant and hang out in Luang Prabang. If you havent been there, come and feast on their delicious chicken lemongrass burger, the perfect lao and western fusion. While we were eating we realised how our colourful applique Passa Paa backpack matched with their bursts of colourful decor… we had to share it with you. Get yours on our website here.

Sofitel Hotel

Summer is not quite over yet here in Luang Prabang! And for these hot days, nothing better than a swim in the paradise that is Sofitel Luang Prabang . Take everything you need in our sling bag, a contemporary take on the traditional Lao field / market bag. Made of 100 % cotton and packs down really small for when you’re not using it. Individually hand printed at our studio, each one is unique. Get yours in our shop here. What other paradise pools do you know in town?

Saffron Coffee

But first, coffee, right? Almost everyday, we have Saffron Coffee , it is the coffee of choice of most businesses and households in Luang Prabang. Not only are their flat whites poured to perfection but as a ‘profit-for-purpose’ business, Saffron's profits are reinvested for the benefit of Lao people by helping every individual farming family. We've done their Cherry to Cup tour and loved learning all the love that goes into our morning coffee. The perfect combo? Their coffee on our hand-made coasters (find them in our shop here) by their terrace overlooking the Mekong.

Nagini Bar - 3 Nagas

Palm tree wall paper, colourful sofas and teal tiles, all of these plus delicious drinks (like the Thai Ice Tea we had 🍹) Nagini Bar by Sofitel Luang Prabang  is the perfect place to rehydrate as you watch the world go by beside the main street. We chose this place to highlight our hand-made men's wallet made with soft cow leather and hand printed fabric detail, available in multiple colours on our website here.  And did we mention their beautiful antique car.. ;)

Belle Rive Hotel

Can you guess where we are? Hints: This is one of the most photographed buildings in the peninsula. We’ve actually used this spot for a photoshoot more than once! This time, the iconic blue doors complemented our hand-made hemp bag featuring our ‘Mountain Print’ ( find it in our shop: www.passa-paa.com/shop !) It is one of the buildings of The Belle Rive Hotel . Behind these doors you find comfortable and beautifully designed rooms with a spectacular view of the Mekong. It also has one of our favourite sunset spots... but of course, that’s for a post to come 🙌🏼

Ock Pop Tok - Mekong Villa

Put your feet up and relax beside the mighty Mekong River at Mekong Villa by Ock Pop Tok  We love coming to this Can you spot our silk chiffon scarf?! It is now available on our shop ( www.passa-paa.com/shop ) If you want to enjoy this room and it’s Mekong view, you are in luck! At the time of writing this they have a reopening promotion for you: 30-50% off for a minimum of 2 nights. Go on..put your feet up!

Naviengkham Market

We are very aware of how lucky we are to have several markets around town with fresh fruit and organic produce🍊 The vibrant colors and nutritious options make it hard to choose what to buy and carry in our hand-printed market bag (get yours on our shop and say no to plastic bags: www.passa-paa.com/shop ) Our favorite is called Naviengkham market, share with us which is your favorite market, even if its not in Laos 😉

Comma café

DISCOVER Luang Prabang - New place in town alert and new product alert! 📢 We saw this picture of our friend @bidalack_syackhaphom and knew that we needed to go see this new café in town. Called Comma Coffee Luangprabang, it’s open and bright space was perfect to showcase our leather bowls hand stitched with wax thread (find them now at www.passa-paa.com/shop !). This geometric windows though, so pretty! 😍

Basket corner Alley

We call it "the little basket alley" and even though there are more places that sell this traditional baskets, this one is our favorite in town. Every basket has a specific task in a Lao and Hmong household and we love to see all the different shapes and sizes. Can you spot our hand made "mountain print" clutch bag in between the baskets? We really liked the contrast of colors and textures and the fact that all these products represent so much of Hmong culture. Our clutch bag is now available in our shop www.passa-paa.com/shop ! PS: The lady that owns this shop was so excited that we wanted to take a picture to show it to you all.

Ock Pop Tok - Silk Road Café

Sunsets in Luang Prabang are always gorgeous and because we looove seeing them, we know every good spot to do so. One of our favorite spots that re-opened recently is Ock Pop Tok's Living Crafts Center and Silk Road Cafe. Not only did they renovate their restaurant but they now offer breakfast all day long and happy hour from 4-6pm! Their colorful walls were the perfect spot to shoot our slim leather wallets (available in our shop in blue, black and brown www.passa-paa.com/shop ). Sunset and french toasts at 5:30pm, why not?

Seng Lao Café - Vientiane

And to finish, we head a little further than usual: DISCOVER ... Vientiane! - From time to time, we take a work trip to Vientiane and this week we bumped into such a cool café that we decided to show you. Senglao Café has a unique mix of rustic design and nature and we were so happy to see our fabric party flags play a role on their bar! (If you're feeling like adding a touch of festive decoration to your space they are available in our shop in blues and reds, www.passa-paa.com/shop !) Can you also spot our star lamps? When in Vientiane, check out their incredible selection of desserts!
